I’m a Feminist (but, no but!)
Since the issue came up recently on this blog, I thought I would clarify what feminism is. All it means is advocacy for the social equality of the sexes. Men and women are entitled to the same rights and opportunities. A good example of a recent feminist inspired law/right would be the Family and Medical Leave Act which guaratees employees (men AND women) twelve weeks of unpaid leave with all benefits and the right to return to the same or a comparable job for the following reasons:
-
-for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee;
-for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care;
-to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or
-to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.
Isn’t that awesome?
