Something’s Rotten In Nevada
Read the Gleaner’s analysis of the Reid/Carter incident at the state Democratic Convention on Saturday. It got me thinking about the whole “any democrat is better than a good democrat who is less able to win” philosophy of DailyKos and their ilk and how it can be sort of, well, short-sighted, or maybe convenient is the word I’m searching for. Also, its a strategy defined by the Republicans. Why are we letting them define our approach? I dont think its the way we have to go. Don’t we have something better to offer voters than that?
I guess its mostly local news but Carter has gotten a lot of press on Daily Kos lately so some coverage of the hubub about Reid’s snub should not be out of the realm of possiblity. Reid certainly isn’t adhering to the “any democrat is better than a good democrat who is less able to win” philosophy is he when he publicly disrespects a fellow Nevada Democrat running for a senate seat in the middle of the state convention? And now that Goodman has made it clear he is not going to run, there is no other Democrat to choose from. The Gleaner is absolutely right–Reid is being an ass. I don’t care about his gentlemen’s agreement with Ensign, there are a lot of ways he could show some support for the Senate candidate, particularly one with his family credentials. His actions this weekend seem to me to be the height of arrogance. As the official leader of the national party, he should find some way around his agreement in order to support Democratic candidates. Instead, in this case, he seems to be doing whatever he can to protect himself rather than promote the party.

Reid must be jealous. He didn’t lift a finger for John Kerry in Nevada either. Hmmm, I wonder why?
Oh, well, Carter can run against Reid later.
