Gleanus Titus Andronicus

If any of you have been frequenting The Gleaner’s space lately, you may have noticed a couple of things. First, in her endless search for the perfect stable of husbands, the minx has been trolling for potentials there and repeatedly hitting on women which has been confusing to say the least. Second, he has the best commenters in the state of Nevada, and I am intensely jealous. but then, I guess I bear some responsiblity for that, writing crap content and all. Its a wonder Discontents has any readers at all. Third, there is a raging battle in this state in the guber democratic primary between Dina Titus and Jim Gibson, and its manifesting itself on the comments of The Gleaner’s site in mostly healthy discourse. Many readers, however, have accused The Gleaner’s coverage of the campaign as having a Titus bias ( I could say that 100 times and it would make me laugh everytime). Could this be because Titus has communicated the planks of her platform to the public better than Gibson? Could it be that Titus is the more liberal candidate, and The Gleaner, as a profressed liberal blogger, would logically support the more liberal candidate? Or could it be that he’s just trying to whip up his comment count even more because he’s a vain and self-indulgent man? I believe its a combination of all three of these factors, but I have been struck by the fury of some Gibson supporters over the Gleaner’s Titus bias (!) and felt I must respond in some way.

So, to honor the righteous indignation of those devoted Gibsonites who day in and day out, insist that The Gleaner clean up his act and end his Titus bias (!), I am assigning him the nickname Gleanus Titus Andronicus. This is a campaign of Shakespearean proportions and deserves the epic reference. Tragedy, hubris, revenge–its all there (Hopefully we can stay away from the murder, rape, severed limbs, and cannibalism heavily featured in the play). Like the Gleaner, Titus Andronicus was a crafty bugger and probably the most vicious dramatic character every created. And while the Gibsonites would probably stop short of accusing The Gleaner of cooking up Gibson’s children and serving them to him in a pie, are they far from believing The Gleaner is feigning madness to achieve his sinister objectives? I know I often suspsect this might be the case.

But Gibsonites should be careful. Just as in Titus Andronicus, all may not be what it seems. Perhaps The Gleaner is really a Gibson supporter pretending to support Titus in order to exact revenge for some past slight? Perhaps The Gleaner is Gibson seeemingly working at cross-purposes in a plot we mere mortals can’t even begin to understand? Or he could be the long lost bastard son of Titus set on taking down his heartless progenitor? Or maybe the long lost bastard son of Gibson set on taking down his heartless progenitor? As in all good Shakespearean dramas, the possiblities are endless, and I for one, will be waiting eagerly for the plot to unfold.

[...] The Las Vegas Gleaner (Mr. Jackson if you’re nasty) also noticed the article and it got me to thinking (I know–scary!). Whereas, the Gleaner is the best blogger in Nevada and he is actually trying to make a living at this whole blogging thing, I urge you to support his operation by donating a little something something if you know what I mean. Think of all the pleasure Gleanus Titus Andronicus has brought you over the past year. Not only does he provide you with the latest news and insightful commentary, he also provides a space where all of you can post your vain, ridiculous and sometimes brilliant comments. Where else can you feel part of community that cool? Yes, IJ sometimes gets her panties in a wad when some ass makes a semi-sexist remark (usually), Abbinett sometimes comments what seems like an entire novel, and you might need a Spanish-English dictionary to understand diego277’s comments, but still, its cool isn’t it? The Gleaner created that space for us. So do yourself a favor and put some money where your mouth is. Why not set up an automatic five dollar a month payment to his paypal account? The link is right there on his website (right side). I’d do it but Mr. Jackson refused to take my money. I think he was a little worried I might expect a few favors in return if you know what I mean (and he was right–he’s a bit of a mancake and I’m in search of a fourth husband!). But don’t let that stop you. We really don’t want to see him set up a blog called Elect _____.com for some 08 candidate do we? [...]

Apt. Thought provoking and apt. And really how often can you talk about a bitter primary campaign and some of the greatest drama ever writen in the same primary.

A few thoughts….this does not qualify as a crap content, i found it very entertaining…it’s amazing what people complain about to other people…I have posted an occasional comment on the site of one Gleanus Titus Andronicus…I am male…I am single…perhaps your search is over?

Excellent

I recognize you Mr. Clean of Battleborn Battleground, but you are a little far away, although the idea of a long distance husband is intriguing. I could easily control access but still get all the goodies. Every day would be like a honeymoon. I’ll sleep on it.

here is a modern epic real life drama we shall call “vegas confidential”; after the russell crowe movie of similar title. It has murder; political intrigue; damsels in distress; police detectives; mobsters; asian gangsters; drugs; sex violence; gambling; fast cars; all set in the neon desert oasis known as “Sin City” (another flick?) “starring robert diniro and joe pesci and sharon stone” coming to a statehouse theatre near you…..

Excellent! And I thought I was the only one wondering about all the drama going on between Titus and Gibson. Up here in the elbow of Nevada, support is equally mixed and confusing because we only know what we are being told by our contacts in the south.

Now, I can enjoy the drama of it all!
