Nevada Blogs Shortchanging Bloggers
Initially, I thought the new Nevada Blogs blog aggregator that popped up on my radar a few weeks ago was a good thing, but that was when the aggregated posts were still linked directly back to the site they were culled from. However, the Nevada Blogs creator/s have changed the design and now it takes at least two clicks and a cut and paste operation to get back to the original location of the post. Not cool.
Most blog aggregators I have seen still specify what blog the post comes from on the initial post and allow a click through to that blog post on its original page. I certainly hope that Nevada Blogs reflects this kind of structure soon, or I will some serious issues with the creators. People put a lot of work into their blogs and boosting the content without referencing the authors in a way that makes it convenient for readers to access that blog is a violation of the generousity inherent in the blogging community. If you are going to use my content to attract readers, you should make it easy for them to access my blog. Plain and simple. For ideas on how it should work, visit Virginia Political Blogs.
Make the change–the minx’s wrath is not a thing most people want to behold. Thanks.

That aggregator should be called a plagiarizer.
If it doesn’t change, I’m going to organize a blogging campaign against it so that every day, it collects posts about how it sucks.
The site has changed. It had a nice look to it before. Perhaps he’s just having an issue with Wordpress.
maybe you should take a look at Nevada Politics, a mix of blog aggregator and community blog set up by Kirk Caraway of the Nevada Appeal. Every blog with feeds can be added:

I was on there the other day, but I’m gone now. I wonder if that’s because I use a creative commons license that requires attribution. Do any of you guys? I bring it up because my first thought was that it violated something in my licensing. But then I realized I wasn’t included anymore.
I’d never heard of this blog, and I’ve tried to keep up with who’s on. Frankly, there’s not much of any substance? Nevada Politics is a better site.
It’s back to the old style now. Either that new design was a test that wasn’t supposed to go public, or he changed it back after getting too much backlash.
Frankly, the directory on the right-hand side is far more interesting to me than the aggregator part. And the directory was completely gone yesterday!
I also don’t know how he’s building out his directory. He’s got my wife’s blog listed under Reno (http://www.nevadablogs.net/blogs/19/), when she lives in Minden.
Hi, I’m Dane the creator of NevadaBlogs.net.
The “redesign” you saw earlier this week, was unfortunately, just a bug. The title of every entry on the site is supposed to ALWAYS be a direct link back to the original weblog post.
The site uses a mix of custom software to find, aggregate, catalog and enter blog posts into a Wordpress front end. What happened, was that I accidentally switched the theme back to the Wordpress default theme, thus killing all of the cool functionality of the site.
I appreciate everyone’s interest, and I’m awfully sorry for the confusion.
The site is still under construction, and I really just wanted to find a way to help Nevada bloggers connect with one another. If anyone has any suggestions, or ideas, I’m definitely open to making changes!
