Gibbons Garage Gate Cliff Notes: What We Know

Courtesy of KTNV Las Vegas News
The minx thought she would try and prepare a sort of Cliff Notes for the Gibbons/Mazzeo affair for your convenience, but it was really hard. Math hard. Here is what I came up with. Want something to be added? Send the source.
- We know Gibbons lied one way or another about Mazzeo’s state that night. Mazzeo was either “tipsy” as he claimed during his first interview, or maybe not as he claimed later after people raised concerns about him escorting a drunk woman to her car.
- We know Gibbons lied about where his arm grab/attack ocurred. He said it ocurred just outside the restaurant that he and Mazzeo left at the same time. Witnesses however, say that Gibbons left the restaurant at least 20 minutes before Mazzeo. Why was he waiting for her outside for that long? Just to walk a tipsy woman to her car so she could drive herself into a stop sign?
- We know that someone illegally released Mazzeo’s identity to the public, but we still don’t know who or why.
- We know that Sheriff Young contacted Gibbons and told him about the accusation and warned him to get a lawyer before he was questioned by police.
- We know that Sheriff Young has made repeated public statements that show his bias in the case, going so far as to dispute the possible seriousness of the charge.
- We know that Sheriff Young admits that police made “very little effort” to recover the security tapes on the night of the alleged assault.
- We know that police told Mazzeo on the night of the incident that they would have the security camera tape the next day. When she left the scene at 3:30 a.m., Mazzeo said she was assured that they would have the tape within an hour. However, later that day, Mazzeo was told by police that no tape existed.
- We know that police refused to release the photographs they took of Mazzeo’s alleged injuries to her lawyer.
- We know that a Hughes Center security officer told police that “they do have video of the parking structure but that the video was not recording at the time of the incident.”
- We know that Gibbons’ lawyer, Don Campbell, learned about the existence of the tapes before anyone else did.
- We know that Crescent Real Estate Equities officials discussed the tapes in advance with Campbell but not with Mazzeo’s attorney.
- We know that several witnesses were not interviewed by the police during the initial investigation–Penny Puhek, Sig Rogich, and other people present during the dinner that night.
- We know that Rogich used to be a lobbyist for Crescent Real Estate Equities, the company who own the Hughes Center where his offices reside.
- We know that the Jones Vargas law firm (representing Crescent) has a long history of Gibbons support.
- We know Penny Puhek, Michelle Diegel, Georganne W. Bradley, Gibbons and Rogich all deny that anything inappropriate went on the restaurant.
- We know that Puhek denies she relayed messages from the Gibbons campaign to Mazzeo that included threats and bribes.
- We know that Mazzeo has been a victim of violence in the past, and has been tied to the “suspect sale of a pick-up truck.”
- We know that Judge Herndon has ruled that the security camera video tapes are to be released to Gibbons over the objections by Deputy D.A. Robert Gower, and that “detectives have reached no conclusion and had ‘only reviewed a limited portion of the video available.’”

There is a reason nobody is commenting on your lengthy post — nobody cares. Not only is Mazzeo not credible, the timing is so suspect even Gibbons haters question the authenticity. Move on.
Well, I care. I think Mazzeo is very credible. I don’t think the “timing” is suspect nor do I think Mazzeo’s complaint is not authentic.
I’m not “moving on” either. I want the full unvarnished truth.
Go pound sand Vlad in Plaid.
I am not going anywhere either…
This has actually hipped me to how dirty this guy really is. Time for him to go. I totally believe her story. This guy has been stupid for a while now and now he is caught…Again.
Vlad in Plaid (nice name), part of the point is that its more than just Mazzeo–its the cover up and close relationships between the Gibbons campaign, Las Vegas Metro, various lawyers, lobbyists, corporations, etc. that make all of them look dirty. Plus, its just embarrassing.
