Gibbons Is Leading The Glamorous Life
The minx finds it absolutely shocking that any congressman would use his position to help a “friend“–especially a friend that contributed $100,000 to his campaigns over the years. Shocking I say!
And when did Gibbons join “Dancing with The Stars?” It was probably too much to resist–the glitzy, glamorous world that Trepp opened up for Gibbons (Thanks Stanley Scandalmonger). How can you blame him? Look, Gibbons is surrounded by Hollywood c-listers Patrick Swayze and John O’Hurley. See how they shine?! And the $100,000 contributions from Trepp (Michael Milken’s former right hand man) probably made any attempts at resistance futile. In fact, it may have been enough to disappear lobbyist Letitia White who Trepp maintains he never employed (Gleaner). That Gibbons really is a magician. I guess he was hoping the undeclared gifts Trepp sent his way like the shiny famous people $10,000 cruise, chartered flights, and various other alleged cash gifts would also disappear.
Yes, Gibbons thought it was a good idea to sponsor someone little better than a corporate criminal around Washington. Gibbons really isn’t doing well on the whole “A governor should exhibit good judgement” standard is he?
And then, to make it all just a little bit worse, Gibbons’ good friend Trepp paid public homage to his benfactor in a delicious display of adulation:
“Not only is Jim Gibbons my friend, but I know of nobody else who has fought so hard to defend this country and our people – both from his military service and his service in office. I applaud him for that, as do most Nevadans. He is an honorable and decent man. While I appreciate his help in getting funding for this critical program that will help us fight and win the war on terror, I also applaud the entire Congress for approving our program. Jim Gibbons brought this vital technology to our nation’s attention.”
Who wouldn’t applaud the worst congress ever for making them a rich man a second time? Sometimes you just wish your friends would shut up don’t you?

[...] Today, we celebrate the democratic transfer of power from one administration to another. [Today we may celebrate it, but it actually happened more than a day ago rather stealthily in Gibbons’ living room because he was afraid that terrorists determined to hijack his one guaranteed moment in the spotlight (besides that whole Chrissy Mazzeo thing, and the alien in the basement thing, and that pesky blackmark deal with Warren Trepp, and the looney statements about Mercury) and turn it into some kind of international incident (in his own mind because no one outside the state of Nevada actually knows who Jim Gibbons is or that he is the new governor unless they read Wonkette.com]. Typical pilot…I’m always right in everything I do…
Myrna- I don’t think its 100 grand “over the years” I think it was a 100 grand this year, in 10,000 increments from 10 different Trepp entities. It’s all about those bundled donations with the 10000 cap of state races.
If it was “over the years” it would probably be a bigger number and not so round.
I am not pointing this out to criticize you, I just think it is important to recognize the details and severity of any possible transgressions.
Hmm, not clear in the WSJ article but more clear in the RGJ article. Could be clearer in both of them. And dont every worry about correcting me. My god, its your duty!
