Reno and Beyond: Democrats Don’t Care About Families
- Assemblyman David Bobzien gives us a glimpse into what its like to be a freshman in the Nevada legislature. Cool.
- The lovely and talented Desert Beacon alerted me to a most worthy cause: The 4th Ward School Museum in Virginia City needs to raise $12,845 in the next 25 days in order to match a challenge donation of $50,000. Its been there since 1876! Those wishing to donate can call Barbara Mackey at 775-847-0975 or write to Post Office Box 4, 537 South C Street, Virginia City, NV 89440.
- Reno women! Nothing says “I am a powerful woman” like blue thongs! Please, wear hip-huggers if you must, but don’t wear the blue thongs at the same time. No one wants to see the t-strap.
- I can’t tell if this is a new feature or what, but today’s Washington Post has a whole section titled “Still Me.” The blue thong crowd can find out what other cool moms are reading and watching which just happens to be The View. Blech. I’m not a mom (and I’m certainly not cool) so I probably shouldn’t say anything, but is something like “Still Me” really necessary? Do moms need their own special style section? And really, I can’t imagine how watching Little Miss Judgmental, Elizabeth Hasslebeck, makes anyone any cooler–quite the opposite.
- Oh, this poor, dumb woman. I can’t think of a more mortifying situation, can you?
- Even though Christopher Hitchens was no doubt delighted with his latest effort to show us all, once again, just how clever he really is, he succeeds merely in demonstrating how little he actually knows about women, and men for that matter. His whole essay could’ve just read: “Most men just don’t want to be around a woman who is obviously smarter than they are. Now, let’s all go get a drink.”
- Chris Evert’s divorce settlement strikes me as a good example of how feminism has benefited men as well as women. Another good example is the Family and Medical Leave Act.
- Is it me or does this celebrity couple have to potential to be the scariest couple ever?
- I laughed out loud upon reading Republican Rep. Jack Kingston’s comments on Congress’ new work week. “The Democrats could care less about families — that’s what this says.” Talk about ironic (and moronic). He clearly means his family. Waaa you big fat baby. You’ve been hired to do a job just like the rest of us. If you don’t like it–quit. Complaining about a 4 day work week when your party’s idea of hard work meant working seven days less than 1948’s legendary “Do-Nothing” Congress is really the height of arrogance AND stupidity.
