The FBI Is Probbing Gibbons? Karma Is A Bitch
See update at the end.
There is a rumor that things may be getting worse for Jim Gibbons the man with the plan to embarrass Nevada (worse for Nevada too obviously–its his plan), an FBI investigation kind of worse. Is there an indictment on the way? Three thoughts I have:
1. This is solely about the Warren Trepp case involving possible corruption.
2. This is not solely about the Warren Trepp case, but is also about Daniel Bogden. If you recall, Bogden is one of the US Attorneys who recently lost his job despite receiving favorable job reviews from his supervisors. Could Bogden be pulling a Carole Lam and bringing down indictments before his last day on the job? Or is Bogden part of the problem as Dennis Montgomery asserts? Either way, many Nevadans may get their wish. Surely Gibbons would resign if indicted?
Original Wall Street Journal Article (bogden part on last page):

Scandalmonger has a great post too.
Gibbons admited he helped eTreppid, owned by Gibbons major donor Warren Trepp (to the tune of almost $100,000), get millions in classified federal contracts:
“Accusations that Gibbons sold his influence to Trepp are part of a legal battle between Trepp and a former employee, Dennis Montgomery, according to the Wall Street Journal, but that could not be confirmed.
Federal court records in Reno show Montgomery filed two lawsuits this year in which he charged Trepp with software copyright violations.
Trepp filed a countersuit against Montgomery.
In his lawsuits, Montgomery said he was the actual developer of the software sought by the federal government.
Montgomery said he had been hired by Trepp in 1997 and was an executive with the company until he was fired in 2004. He seeks damages of more than $75,000.
One of the federal lawsuits was dismissed on Jan. 31 after parties decided it dealt with state issues. The lawsuit subsequently was filed in district court in Reno.
A district court employee said records in that case have been sealed. He would not answer when or why material filed in the case was sealed.
But documents filed in the federal cases, which remain open to public access, make no mention of Gibbons.
Update: Scandalmonger has also mentioned this, but Jim Gibbons’ staffer on the House Intelligence Committee was Brent “Nine Fingers” Bassett, who is mixed up with recently indicted former CIA executive director Dusty Foggo.
The RGJ posts court documents here and a press release from Montgomery. Unbelievably, he is alleging that he couldn’t get a fair shake in the Nevada courts. No! And that Gibbons and Trepp are greedy. No!

[...] In their infinite wisdom, legislators like Jim “under FBI investigation” Gibbons, Ty “press hound box of rocks” Cobb, Maurice “Ow, I ruptured my Achilles tendon” and “its not fraud unless they press charges” Washington, John “I used to like taxes when Guinn was in charge” Marvel, and James “hand over your oral fluid” Settelmeyer have all taken the “taxes is a four-letter word” vow (which also happens to be the unofficial state motto) and will oppose Washoe County Schools’ tax on new and current home sales. Here’s what kills me. First, why would anyone follow Gibbons or any of his stances? And second, do people even get the concept that by improving Washoe County Schools ability to improve the education of your kids, they are, in effect, paying themselves, just a bit in the future? And people who bought homes in the North Valley’s are upset because they didn’t buy a home closer to Renown? WTF? Perhaps they should have moved closed to Renown. It is a question of fairness–how is it that Washoe County is the only county in the state that does not get this impact tax? Good grief! Well, good on you Washoe County citizens–who needs modern school buildings and more classrooms to keep out teacher/pupil ratio down? Hell, who needs public education–home school for everyone! I’m sure we’ll go far with that pack of legislators leading the way. They’ve demonstrated good decision-making abilities so far–especially that Gibbons. [...]
[...] Leola McConnell is at it again. The former gubernatorial candidate is allegedly publishing an ebook called “Lustful Utterances.” I think we can assume its a tell all having to do with her days as an active dominatrix. That’s sure to be a page turner, and about as exciting as the trials and tribulations of our elected governor. [...]
[...] It looks like U.S. Attorney David Iglesias was dismissed because he didn’t make Senator Pete V. Domenici (R-New Mexico) happy, which leads me to ask what Daniel Bogden did or didn’t do and did someone complain about him? [...]

I mean, how could one reasonably expect Trepp to afford to pay Montgomery and the gibber, too? After all, he just got millions – not billions.
I was wondering about the Bogden and Lam firings by Alberto and the connection to this Gibbons case …Lam was the one who nailed Duke Cunningham to the wall for similar offenses …
fyi: Joan and Steven Mack were among gibberdagrabber’s “largest contributors”; $2000 ea; 3/11/05. Nice folks to party with…..
If you were aware of the crooked dealings of Jimmy Dean in west Texas, you wouldn’t be carrying his ads. This guy is lower than gibbons on the slimeball scale!~!
