Reno Who Concert: The Who Starts Here
I’m partly deaf and dumb because I just got home for The Who concert. I don’t know what they were thinking, but they decided to start their tour here. Well, I do know what they thinking–they were thinking that nobody would notice if they were off their game a bit if they started their U.S. tour in our little city. Daltry did miss a few notes and he did not take his shirt off as is customary (my friend Jason was very upset over the lack of skin in general). Zach Starky (Ringo Starr’s son) played an excellent drum kit (I wish he had taken his shirt off) and Simon Townsend’s (Pete’s brother) bass performance was great, but very low key. I also found myself wishing he would take his shirt off. Pete “love of my life” Townsend was truly wonderful–his windmill full performance reminding me about how he became such a skilled and theatrical guitar player. It all started with Buddy Guy really. Jimi Hendrix saw Buddy Guy perform his electric blues guitar and saw his future. A few years later, Pete Townsend say Jimi Hendrix in London and saw his future. So thanks for Pete Buddy–even if he also kept his shirt on throughout the entire show.
I’ll write more later–the concert was great–lots of the old stuff and the new stuff (which is really good by the way). I particularly loved “Eminence Front” from the It’s Hard album..
And when am I ever going to see The Who with only 5,000 other people again? For a stadium band, its like seeing them in a local coffee bar. The minx is delirious. Who are you?

Eminence Front is a great song. A groove that’ll stick in your head for days. Glad the show was good.
spelling:
bass guitar
Jimi Hendrix
That’s hilarious–I spelled bass as base. What can I say, it was late–I didnt feel like proofreading.
Hey Myrna - I don’t think anyone at that show could’ve spelled much right after. It was kinda a reverse-Clinton night for me: I didn’t smoke it but it was impossible not to inhale any.
GREAT show - and we had to fly up for it but it was well worth it. Down here they’d either play a venue more than twice the size (and still charged more), or a smaller room and charged MUCH more. We were about 1/2 way back and the view was terrific (104 row 12). Where were you?
