Nevada State Democratic Party Reorganization

Instead of seeing the Nevada State Democratic Party co-sponsored Fox News debate controversy as a bad thing for the Nevada Democrats, I think we are actually seeing some positive outcomes. And while Sven at Turn Tahoe Blue mentions that Tom Collins resigned before the controversy, but I’m not sure that’s true since the controversy began on Tuesday of last week–the day before the Carson City forum. I also think that is was nice of Collins to take a stab at talking to the Dkos crowd but he should’ve known that that would never work with that crowd. And the good news is that people are talking compromise on the Fox News debate. For instance, it might work if there is a good balance of moderators or it is simultaneously aired on Air America. Anyway….

  1. State Chair Tom Collins is stepping down, and although its clear that he was able to accomplish some good things (supporters say improving party organization and fund raising), from the dissatisfaction that many are now expressing openly, this is a very good development. Part of the state Democrats’ problem has been their own insistence on their difference and independence. While fierce independence can be a good quality, it can also quickly turn into stubbornness and obstinacy. I remember the first central committee meeting I attended in Carson City–It was hard for me to figure out what exactly made the people attending Democratic–not to mention the fact that they were all men and all over the age of 55.
  2. Jill Derby appears to be stepping up which has got to be a positive change even if she was one of those ERA’ers who’ve tried to destroy the state party in the past. She clearly has support from all factions of the party and seems like she’ll be a united and not a divider.
  3. Jon Ralston seems to be incensed over what’s happening–that’s got to be good.
  4. People get this idea that conflict equals weakness and nothing could be further from the truth. The state party can come out of this controversy much stronger, more organized, focused and more united than it has been in a long time.

It’s time to run out the D.I.N.O.’s and take back the Nevada Democratic Party state-wide, North, South & Rurals UNITE!

Tom Collins MUST GO! Liz Foley MUST GO! All of these “Republican Lite” types need to resign from their leadershp positions and start learning what it means to be a REAL DEMOCRAT, or, go join another party!

We believe EVERYONE is created equal and should have EQUAL access and EQUAL opportunity and EVERYONE’S civil liberties and rights should be respected - not just a select “royal” few!

We believe WOMEN ARE EQUAL and the ERA was a REALLY GOOD THING!

We believe in TOTAL Seperation of Church & State - including many of us that count ourselves as FAITHFUL, but believe that agnostics and aethiests are EQUAL in politics!

Viva La Revoltion! Viva North, South, Rural - and Viva Las Vegas BABY!

Would appreciate someone checking to see if the “New West Project” is a registered PAC with the FEC.

This has a whole lot to do with the stink over the debate for something I’m working on.
Thanks.

Thanks, Myrna. From what I can dig up, the highly touted New West Project has been hijacked to become the New Majority Project, organized only on 2.15.07. But try and find out soemthing concretee about the New Majority Project and you more or less hit a stone wall except Darryl Tattrie is the consultant. And it no so conincidentally ties in with the timing of Collins leaving to head the debate.

Has there been any info about the financial benefits to either the NDSP or the New Majority Project from the debate. Our party here in Douglas County has already been notified that it is expected to contibute towards the expenses of the debate which seems rather odd considering that one would expect Fox to pay soemthing toward the organizing and overhead of putting on the debates for bigtime national exposure (i.e, selling commercials). See where I’m coming from?

I agree with Johnathan!

I’m revolted by a lot, too, brother! We must organize!

Instead of Che Guevera prints, we will march with dirty white T-shirts on sticks to the stentorian beat of Tom Vilsack’s drunk-ass dad puking up blood.

“Viva La Revoltion!” Indeed.

Does anybody know what happened to the director of the Washoe County party? They have a job announcement for her position up on the WC website. I must have missed an email or a news flash.

My drunk ass dad puked blood, Brantley. He is a Viet Name vet, 3 tours of duty. Want his photo on your dirty white T-shirt? “Viva La Revolution!”

NVMojo -

Pam stepped down after this past election to pursue different life goals, although she remains a great activist.

The party will be selecting a new Executive Director I think next month.

NV Mojo,

Sorry I offeeeeended you.

Where’s “Viet Name?” Is that a SE Asian DNS registry site?

I puke blood just about every morning. But, yes, if you want to screenprint something, I’d be happy to put it on a stick on my march for “revoltion.”

Yours In Christ,

Brantley Foster

NVUpNorth, thanks for the info. I liked Pam.

But, why is it Northern Dems do NOT know why or when Pam left?

And who is going to be doing the interviews and making the decision to hire her replacement?

Why don’t we know these things?

That’s the whole point about ALL of us putting the disinfectant of daylight on these, long, unanswered questions!

Why all the secrecy?

Who are all the “wizards” hiding behind the curtain of power?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
