Will “The Man” Help Me Troubleshoot Comments?
Update: After trotting this out at two other blogs, it turns out that the man known as “The Man” was using a bogus email address with @espn in it. Hmmm, and what do you think happened to his comments? My spam software thought it might be spam. I wonder why? Could it be that the corporate entity known as ESPN is a frequent spammer? Duh, duh, duh.
What will the wonder twins come up with next to try and sully the minx’s reputation? Stay tuned, because they can’t seem to resist hanging around and posting about this blog. I hope that the facts of this little incident are faithfully reported in all the right places.
I still have no idea why all of Scandalmonger’s comments automatically go to moderation. I guess he’s just too manly.

The Man, this might ruin your conspiracy theory which you and Jerz have certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of, but I need to find out what the problem is with my comments so it doesn’t affect anyone else.
Can you please try and duplicate the comment you say you were prevented from making using the approximate language?

I am going to try Wordpress support to see if I can get this solved although I have not been able to solve the issue with Scandalmonger yet.
The upside of this is that I found accounts for people called cigarettesforall and NudeBrit that I was able to delete, and I also found out how to ban someone on a Wordpress blog if I ever need to, well, once I figure out how to find out someone’s IP address anyway.
And please don’t refer to me as “Queen of Reno Blogging,” its “Czarina ” but thanks for conferring the such an illustrious title on me. I certainly never conferred it on myself you silly, silly boys.

While we know the real reason, I’ll play along. It’s not a browser issue as “Mr. Johnson” worked during the same visits as “The Man” didn’t, numerous times. There was no message when the comment was submitted, just the usual back to the page except without the new comment. If I copied the text from the failed comment and used it again I got a message to the effect of it being a duplicate post. So your Wordpress program was aware of the original post,it just mysteriously wasn’t appearing on the site. Unless, of course, I used a different name.
BTW, you still have “The Man” blocked tonight.

So you typed “The Man” in the name box. What did you type in the email box? Whatever it is, its not a real address so you should be able to tell me.
Also, what browser and version? This makes absolutely no sense.
As you can see, I just made a comment under “The Man” so I need more info cause it works for me.
I just posted in the support forum at Wordpress so we will see what happens. You know its absolutely ridiculous for you to believe that I have banned you don’t you? I already went on record at Jerz’s site saying something about how I agreed with “the man.” What on earth would I have to gain by banning you or deleting your comments? They didn’t bother me in the least obviously or I wouldn’t have admitted you were correct.

Well, I got emails form “The Man” through Gmail and none were marked as spam. Gmail also happens to be the best spam detractor I’ve EVEr seen. But whatever. Clearly, you are in control here, and congrats for that. Also, congrats for figuring out “how to ban someone.” I’m sure that was hard, considering you’re not exactly a computer moron.
Dragging this out is a fine idea. While it feels great to be “right”, sometimes you should look around and wonder if what you’re doing is the right thing. Yes, your team “won” the blod debate battel. But you do realize, I hope, that you’ve sided with JLA and texex (who disappeared once the questions really started rolling). Fair enough, if you feel like crazy is a good state of mind. Good luck, and I really did want to have an honest discussion today. Too bad none of your players showed up to give anyone their real game. If they have it.

I found all of his posts as the man in my spam filter. Its a common thing according to wordpress support. But its only logical that it would think theman@espn was spam. duh Give me a fucking break. GO AWAY. You have your own blog.

I never once really believed Myrna was blocking or editing these comments. I did sense that there was a spam capture/Wordpress issue, but Myrna is not the type to block comments. At least, not the Myrna I’ve watched since day one of blogging.
Now when it comes to deleting posts… j/k Myrna. You know I’m going to give you shit for that for AT LEAST another week right?

That addy, bogus as it is, worked perfectly fine on all prior posts here and on other Wordpress programs. Plus, blocking by email names and domains is readily available with Wordpress plug-ins.
Right, MJ, but any good blogger knows that the truth will eventually come out. And I don’t think Myrna is going to risk her credibility by flat out lying to the entire community, as well as her entire readership, with the hopes that it will eventually just go away.
Plus, you ARE still posting right? Obviously Myrna isn’t trying THAT hard to silence you.

I have occasionally had problems posting comments to this blog. I actually emailed Myrna about it when it happened wondering like anyone would if I’d said something to get myself kicked off here. She said she had other people had reported trouble posting and she was looking into it and this was a while ago. I don’t think there’s a conspiracy here, just a buggy build of wordpress

Myrna, if I may weigh in, we all make common human errors…try as we do, we all occasionally make an unnecessary assumption, or, get passionate and jump to an unfounded conclusion…but, then there are those that are purposely using misinformation and disinformation to undermine the quality and quantity of content – that is quite another concern and no mistake of human error is involved!
Trolls are, well, just trolls – but, opposition operatives do work on these web-sites to spread their “fair and balanced” Faux News propaganda – and I’d have no problem with seeing them banned (once the administrator has fully determined what is really up)!
In the end, it’s better to err on the side of caution, but, don’t let them keep beating you up with irrational ruminations!

Are you asserting that just because I disagree with you that I am somehow a secret “operative”? I find CNN, CBS, and several others to be damn near Communist with some of their shows, so should I be banned from participating in open dialog.
You see, this is the problem you guys/gals are going to have in this next election. You claim to be tolerant and you say you support free speech, but if it does not align with your beliefs you instantly cry foul and support bans and blacklists.
There are MILLIONS of Americans who hate both Dems and Repubs. You’re going to need some of those votes to win in 2008, and you sure aren’t doing a good job of welcoming them into the arena of ideas.
