New Reno Blogs
I don’t add blogs to my blogroll very often, not because I have standards or anything, its more because I just don’t have a lot of time to search for them. Trust me, its all I can do to make sure that Bjorn the Houseboy stays on top of his household chores these days. I rarely even look at actual blogs anymore–its all about feeds baby. So if you don’t have one, you better get one. Anyway, my blogroll is getting so long, its probably not all that helpful for new blogs to be added. However, I think mentioning them in a post will help them get a few extra looks. And if I should know about your blog, you’ll have to let me know.
Team Bacon Strip seems to be a blog by a gaggle of dirty hippy mountain bikers, but anyone who writes a manifesto gets on my gold star list. Reno Rambler probably already knows about them, although I think he might be more of a road biker. One thing I can say with certainty is that “eponymous” seems to be a favorite word of the Bacon Strip crew. And just to respond to that comment–I think wolfy missed the sake spanking action during the “watchya gonna do with all that junk that’s in your trunk” part.
Nevada Mojo Rising is a frequent commenter who started her own blog sometime last year. I can’t believe she made the Bill Donohue-Tom Waits Chocolate Jesus connection before me. Why haven’t the Catholic’s excommunicated that guy yet? Talk about a black eye.
Nevada Democrat does a good job of keeping track of the doings of the local Democrats which is good since Nevada Up North is being taken over by a Republican environmentalist known as the Birkenstocked Burkean. And no, that’s not an oxymoron.
And if you’re a gamer, you should check out RenoLanSlide. Get it?!

I have never had the necessary curiosity about the contents of said trunk to be that interested in the question. The marmaset takes me back to a time/place I don’t savor.

Myrna, you are too cool. I think I’ve been reading your blog for about a year now, bought your teeshirt from your site not long after that and did this while living in Elko’s back 40 in rural Nevada. When we found out we were going to move to Reno, I couldn’t wait to get out and see some the places I read about here on Reno Discontents.

As a jack Catholic, I am embarrassed to know that Catholics have an extremist fundie element in their midst.
About Tom Waits, I stumbled on to that while looking for the Johnny Cash “Personal Jesus” video and wondered why the stupid media never made the connection to the artist’s Chocolate Jesus concept in the first place. I had forgotten about that myself so don’t feel bad!
UpNorth hasn’t changed. Their self-imposed exile lasted merely a week and the “hippie republican” has yet to make a post besides her introduction. In other words, the same old site.
UpNorth is reaching across the aisle. A good move, imo.
It will remain a valuable information resource, again imo.
In fact, there’s stuff there today
about Kate Marshall which the northern Nevada press has largely
ignored.

What aisle? In the first 10 posts of the “new” UpNorth 9 are by the old UpNorth. The only post by the “new” UpNorth is the one claiming a republican was going to start writing for it.

After reading your blog I realized I hadn’t finished up my post on the recent Washoe Co. Dem meeting — particularly embarassing as you had laude the blogs local Dem coverage.
