Sometimes, Its Better To Be Quiet
I’m not one for forced apologies–who cares really–by the time someone is “called to apologize its always way too late. I wasn’t one of the bloggers calling for Kos to apologize for his ignorant post a few days ago, nor did I expect him to. However, his response is pathetic. He is still missing the point. He didn’t just say:
1) There are assholes that will 2) email stupid shit to any public figure (which includes bloggers, but 3) that won’t be stopped by any blogger code of conduct.
You see, stupid asshole psycho threatening emailers don’t care about codes of conduct. That’s all.
“That’s all?” His first mistake was that he also said Kathy Sierra couldn’t handle blogging and placed himself in the shoes of someone he had no right to, nor the knowledge to do so. His biggest mistake, however, was and continues to be that he refuses to acknowledge that most women have a very different experience on the internet than men do, and its a much more threatening one. He has also made it clear that the support of feminism as an essential component of his progressive agenda is optional in posts past. Unfortunately, he just continues to reinforce this unfortunate truth with crap like this.
Did Kos think linking to someone else who acknowledged what he should have said is an appropriate response? Its certainly a lazy one. It would have been better if Kos had just kept quiet. But sometime some men aren’t so good at that.

Dear Myrna look up the definition of “sociopath” in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illnesses and Disorder, Volume IV, and it might help you, as it did me, in understanding that there are some people that are beyond selfish - they are not capable of even considering anyone else!
I think that’s what Markos is getting at - some people are just not worth your time and no amount of effort will ever influence them to change their behavior!
They are sociopaths!
I don’t care what he was TRYING to get at, what he did get at was how easy it is for him to dismiss the facts of the Sierra case and the increasing violence that women on line face in general when compared to men. Its funny that you make the sociopath argument because the post Kos links to by Majikthise discusses this very canard as the problem she has with his intial post. I suggest that you find another place to defend the great Kos.
