Reno and Beyond: Northern Nevada Threat Level? Moderate. Southern Nevada Threat Level? Up A Dry Riverbed
- Goddamn that crazy German Sven of My Silver State netroots blog, he created a Facebook site for my Reno mayoral campaign. I guess I have to join Facebook now don’t I? Now I can be Dave LaPlante’s friend. I draw the line at Facebook though. Oh, and LinkedIn. Oh, and Myspace. Oh, who am I fooling? I do draw the line at Twitter though.
- Okay, I’m exactly $2.52 away from getting my first $100 check from Google Adsense. It only took 1.5 years. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Problogger.
- Check out the new merch site. You can now buy Myrna and Bjorn stuff at Zazzle.com. Unfortunately for those who have already been stocking up on the first printing, Zazzle has some really cool shirt options that CafePress does not.You can’t be the first to own one in Reno anymore (these suckers are flying like hot cakes), but you can be the first in your neighborhood, or in Las Vegas for instance. Shop responsibly with a Bjorn the Houseboy shopping bag from CafePress. I know, I know, there’s a bit too much self promotion today but who else is going to do it?
- Okay, so they aren’t exactly keeping their online calendar current but the Holland Project has a $2 Origami class tonight from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in “the church across the street from Java Jungle.” Paper included!
- I hope we are finally past the point of network news being intimidated by Fox News (because they’re losers), but just in case, Robert Greenwald has a new campaign to warn the public about Fox News’ efforts to drum up support for military action against Iran.
- Wanna read a great story about how global warming is and will continue to affect the Western U.S?” Here you go.
- Wanna read a great story about the nature of the writing process and the genius of Richard Wright, one of the best writers this country has ever produced? Here you go.
- More great writing by David Neiwert and Sarah Robinson of Orcinus on the shifting intentions of Conservative Evangelical Christians. A must read if you are trying to understand exactly what they want, particularly Gordon Perry. Everyone should be reading Orcinus all the time.
- Guess who’s coming to town to speak in front of the safest audience possible–the biggest daddy of the Daddy State. (TM).
- Bjorn the Houseboy and I are thinking about starting a labor union for houseboys as a part of my mayoral campaign. What do you think?
- Okay, seriously. Its time for Amber to leave Big Brother 8 because I don’t think I can take too much more of her blubbering. I’m sure she’s a sweet girl with a good heart and I love the hair, but anyone (Jameka!) trying to explain what happens on Big Brother as the workings of God just doesn’t have a chance. God doesn’t care who wins Big Brother. In fact, he probably hates it. I don’t even know why I’m watching it.

Myrna, the links in these two bullet points take one to an article about the story behind the publishing of Ralph Waldo Ellison’s 2nd novel…

Subversive attempt at getting us to read it, or a just a simple little bork?
‘k thx, bye.
Darn……sorry about that. I cant even find it now.
I think your Google ads would do better if you got rid of the graphical ads and just focused on text ads. It took me forever even to find the Google ads on your site, and I was looking for them, because I’ve developed such a blindness to those big graphical boxes.
Plus, if you pick text you’ll actually get some ads for local car dealers and real estate agents, stuff relevant to Reno, instead of Las Vegas and Zwinky.
I mean, if my site can do $40 a month with Google, yours should easily be able to double that.
Wow. When I was doing text ads, I didn’t do half that well. I wouldn’t have tried the graphical ones unless I felt like the text ones werent working. I need to take another look at your site!
Are the only ads you have the skyscraper on the left side (that appears on every page).
