Wordpress Plugins To Increase Blog Traffic

As many of you have noticed, I’ve been making A LOT of changes lately–some you can see, most you can’t. Its the changes you can’t see that are already having a major effect on traffic directed toward R&D. The Wordpress plugins I added as a part of my upgrade are Adsense Manger, SEO All in One Pack, Google XML Sitemaps, Aizzato’s Related Posts, Sociable, Wordpress Database Backup, and WP-Polls plugins–some to increase ease of maintenance (Wordpress Database Backup), some to increase the site’s social networking options (Sociable, Aizzato’s Related Posts, and WP-Polls), and some strictly to increase traffic (SEO All in One Pack, Google XML Sitemaps). Adsense Manager just makes it easier for me to change ad formats and placement.

In what I think is largely to do with adding Google XML Sitemaps and Sociable, my unique visitor stats per week have almost doubled already. And thanks to the new Liberal BlogAds Network (LBAN), my feed stats (including ad revenue) have doubled as well. Between Google and Feedburner, I have about 200 feed subscribers. In dollars, all this ends of meaning is that I might make $10 a month from Feedburner instead of the usual $3. Adsense revenue has picked up as well, although I am still experimenting with that. My average is up to $1 a day now. I know! I’m rich!

It took a whole weekend to complete the upgrade to Wordpress 2.2.3, but the increased ease of use (I can use widgets now), and improving ad revenue will ultimately make it worth my while. If my calculations are correct, I am actually making about $0.01 per hour I spend publishing and maintaining this blog. Myrna is in the black!!

And just to keep you guys on your toes, I am also going back to my original posting format and ditching the “Reno and Beyond” daily list for a single post per subject. I sincerely hope all of you will help me grow this blog by using the Sociable chicklets at the bottom of each post (those little colorful icons) to share my content with your favorite social networking sites. This site doesn’t grow without your help Discontents! Thanks for all your support.
