Emerging Cinemas Independent Film Series at Nevada Museum of Art

Exciting news from the Nevada Museum of Art:

The Nevada Museum of Art (NMA) announced today a partnership with Emerging Cinemas to present independent films to be screened regularly in the NMA’s Wayne and Miriam Prim Theater. Based in New York City, Emerging Cinemas is dedicated to presenting international film festivals, first run independent/international films, concerts, operas, live theater, documentaries, as well as children’s programming and other educational programs in art venues throughout the United States. Films will be screened Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 pm, and every Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 pm. “Emerging Cinemas is known for its specialty films, syndicated festivals, and curated film series—making their programming an ideal compliment for the NMA,” said Amy Oppio, Deputy Director. “The NMA is excited to build upon the variety of art experiences we offer our community by presenting unique cinema that would otherwise only be seen on DVD.”

Award winning films from Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, Tribeca and other renowned film festivals will be included in the upcoming year. The NMA will launch the film series with Paris, Je T’aime, a collection of short films featuring some of the world’s greatest directors such as the Coen brothers, Gurinder Chadha, Wes Craven, Isabel Coixet, and Walter Salles, among others. Other October films include the rags to riches story of Vanaja, recently reviewed in the New York Times, and the cynical love story Broken English.
