Fiesta with The Pogues
Its time to gear up for The Pogues show on Sunday night at The Fillmore in San Francisco, so I thought I would spend the next few days posting some great music. “Fiesta” shows just how good of a band The Pogues really are. Sure they’re famous for their drunken front man and their reconfiguration of traditional Irish music, but they are also one hell of a band.
One think is clear from the video; Shane McGowan’s lip synching leaves a lot to desired.
So all you rambling boys of pleasure, and ladies of easy liesure, I give you The Pogues on a Thursday afternoon.

Never much of a Pogues fan, but they sure did help Steve Earle make a kick-ass record when he released ‘Copperhead Road’ back in the day.
Been to a show? I used to say that I wasn’t much of a Springsteen fan until I went to a show. The Pogues shows are amazingly fun. Springsteen shows are sort of awe inspiring.
Nope, don’t make many concerts, except for the occasional bill at Stoney’s, the last one being Every Time I Die/Job For A Cowboy in August. Way looking forward to Henry Rollins (singing, talking, who cares?) in a few weeks though, and the wife and I have plans to see Ozomatli up at Crystal Bay in December. I wouldn’t mind seeing The Boss, but I’m pretty damn sure I’ll have to drive at least to Sacramento to do it.
Oakland, and the ticks are a bit expensive. However, if show is worth 150 smackers, his is it. His and The Who’s.
As long as we’re talking music, did you ever check out Stolen Babies? I’m pretty sure that you’ll have to buy the CD online, since their record label’s (The End) website lists that no stores in Northern Nevada sell their records. But make sure to buy the CD, the album’s artwork is quite striking. SB is a band whose roots are in performance-art, and are linked with underground comic artists Crab Scrambly (who did the album art) and Gris Grimly (SB contributed a song to the soundtrack of his debut movie, ‘Cannibal Flesh Riot’).
