The Pogues, Dennis Hof, and Fire
The Pogues show at the Fillmore in San Francisco was just about perfect except for the couple in front of my who were either throwing elbows in version of an Irish jig on crack or trying to have sex–sometimes both at the same time. The band played a lot of older songs and did will with the fill-in lead guitarist. Shane McGowan seemed to need fewer breaks which really helped the overall rhythm of the show–it built, and built, and built and all ended in a a nearly ecstatic and lovable version of “Feista” What a great sing along the whole show was—hearing the crowd sing “Dirty Old Town” so loudly and well that it drowned out the band nearly brought a tear to my eye. Here’s a review from someone who does that for a living.
But the real news is that I apparently won the Reno News & Review best blogger award again. Thank you (you’ll just have to imagine my curtsy). But even better, I beat self-styled trashy pimp Dennis Hof, infamous owner of the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, who I didn’t know even had a blog. At least I’m guessing I was up against the blog on his myspace site, which is HORRIBLE (My eyes! My eyes!). It seems to consist of comedy central clips–original. I am making a sort of transition over the next few days so blogging will be spare to non-existent. Perhaps someone will take it upon themselves to post in my absence. A fairly large audience is yours to abuse.
Probably like most of you, I have loved ones in possible danger due to the fires in Southern California. Some are stranded in San Diego and others are hoping the fires in the Arrowhead area don’t continue to spread. Let’s all pray for the wind to stop.

Eeuuww! That pimp site was sick! I thought that was illegal? Advertising like that? Oh, wait, it’s the internet, not Nevada!
I have family in SD too. They’ve been out taking supplies to friends since early today.
I wish you and yours well.
Congratulations on being the best blogger! Again! That is a significant accomplishment. You’ll be missed during your transition . . .
