Darren Mack Pleads Guilty To First-Degree Murder: Continues To Offend

Darren Mack plead guilty to the murder of his estranged wife Charla Mack and agreed to an “Alford plea” in the attempted murder of judge Chuck Weller. From the RGJ’s news update today:

Darren Mack pleaded guilty this morning to first-degree murder in the killing of his estranged wife, Charla. He also agreed to an Alford plea concerning the intent-to-kill portion of the attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon in the shooting of their divorce judge Chuck Weller, and guilty to the other portions of that charge. An Alford plea is when the defendant maintains his innocence but admits that the prosecution has sufficient evidence to convince a judge or jury that he committed the crime.

Click on this link for more information on what an Alford plea is. How much time will Darren Mack spend behind bars?

As part of Mack’s plea agreement, he will serve life with parole possible after 20 years on the murder charge. Mack also will serve a sentence of two to 20 years on the attempted-murder charge, according to the plea agreement. The attempted-murder charge is considered an enhanced charge because a deadly weapon was used when the crime was committed. The enhancement means that a judge could double the sentence on that charge.

But Mack’s attorney, David Chesnoff, wasn’t satisfied with the fact that his client might actually be a free man one day and felt the need to insult the memory of Charla Mack yet again by making the following statement to the press:

“Mr. Mack feels it’s in his best interest to enter into negotiations,” his attorney David Chesnoff said. “He didn’t want to spend the week having his wife disparaged.”

Right, his client had no problem disparaging Charla Mack over the past year during the various cases related to their divorce, or murdering her, but now he wants it all to be hearts and roses. Chesnoff’s statement goes beyond bad form, its reprehensible. Its time for Darren Mack to be silenced.
