Okay, A Close Race Between Clinton and Obama Is Also Good for The Nevada Caucus

I think a close finish in New Hampshire is excellent news for the Nevada caucus, even better than an Obama win because Clinton will most likely keep campaigning in Nevada. No doubt Obama will claim a win even if he gets second place because he’s the candidate of change, and second place is a good place to be (unless you’re Hillary Clinton).

But did all the women and elderly New Hampshire Democrats just tell the men and whippersnappers of Iowa and New Hampshire to suck it?  I guess we won’t know until the exit polls are complete.  Will Duncan Hunter and Mike Gravel finally drop out of the race? Do Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews have to stop the Hillary bashing or at least go back to being a bit more subtle about it? Will all the male MSNBC pundits have to admit that Rachel Maddow, Katrina vanden Heuvel, and Dee Dee Myers may actually be right about the tone and sexism of their coverage? As a woman, I can’t being to tell you how insulting today’s press coverage has been. It is almost enough to make me vote for Clinton too.

Ha! Rachel Maddow just told Chris Matthews that Talking Points Memo (which is unaccessible right now) is mentioning his Clinton-bashing, uh, I mean press coverage, as a reason for the increased voter turnout in New Hampshire. Clinton is not my favorite candidate but damn if that should not teach the likes of Matthews and Olbermann.

And thank you Tom Brokaw for at least trying to rub the noses of Matthews and Olbermann into the crap they and other pundits served up. America has never had a viable female candidate before, and maybe we’ve just seen what happens when enough women are offended by clear bias in media coverage when it comes to presidential politics.

The coverage has definitely been biased against Clinton and often bordering on sexism. Now that the media has pretty much bungled the run-up to Iowa *and* New Hampshire, maybe the coverage of Nevada will be both plentiful *and* unbiased!

Also, go Obama.

Yes, this close second contest in NH has FINALLY
allowed me to go to sleep at night not worrying about
disillusioned caucus volunteers. Even though I’m
obviously an Obama supporter, a strong one, Obama’s
early “coronation” (as he put it this am) would not
have been “healthy” for the process. I was worried that
a press coronation following NH would have devastated
the morale of Clinton and Edwards volunteers here
(the ones working on the caucus event itself).

Things worked out pretty well.

Great post! Mathews needs a vacation, he was actually frothing at the mouth since Iowa.

This is still a 3 person horse race - and that’s good for Nevada and all of America! But, let’s get real - do you even think the MSM (Main Stream Media) will do a good job of journalism? NOT! They’re in the entertainment bidness and are purposely down playing and ignoring Edwards because they must cow-tow to their corporate masters who absolutely do NOT want Edwards coming after them as the next President - it sooo blatantly obvious!

We’ll get through the Nevada Caucus, then South Carolina and Super Dooper Pooper Tuesday on February 5th - then, and only then, will we the people have a handle on where things are and a significant delegate count - no sooner!

We may very well have a real floor fight in Denver at the DNC Convention like we used to do back in the days when the National Conventions actually were meaningful - and it’s a fight worth fighting!

Edwards/Obama ‘08!
