Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in The Montage
Getting a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in downtown Reno is BIG folks. An upscale dining anchor independent of a casino is exactly what downtown Reno needs to continue its development as an attraction among tourists and locals. Fernando Leal once again proves his worth for those of us interested in seeing Reno’s downtown continue to develop in a classy, but independent way. From the RGJ:
Ruth’s Chris, the national chain of upscale steak houses, will open a Reno outpost in 2008 in ground floor commercial space in The Montage, said to Fernando Leal, whose company, L3 Development, is building the condos.
The target opening date — something that can be fluid in the restaurant biz — is fall 2008. (The Montage itself should begin occupancy sometime in late spring or very early summer, Fernando said.)

Ruth’s Chris is a welcome addition to Reno’s restaurant scene. And to be honest, it could open being the best steakhouse in town. Now if they’d just bring Chipotle to town……..

Gotta disagree there. Ruth’s Chris is good, but Harrah’s steakhouse, in my view, is better. Its a tad pricier but the food is more high class and the waiters more knowledgable than any I’ve had at the handful of Ruth’s Chris I’ve been to. More relaxed too.
This is big, but I’d have preferred Morton’s (which I understand was also under consideration). Again just better food in my view. Not by much. Really these places are all just different degrees of excellent. I’d like a Cheesecake Factory to appear.. and (being from Indiana) an out post of Bob Evans and/or Steak and Shake.
