Republicans Hate John McCain….Not!

Why do I keep watching MSNBC? Am I self-destructive? Is my Id in control of my Superego? But really, that’s a question for another day. Today’s question is…why don’t Pat Buchanan, Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, and the rest of the rabid right just shut up about how much they dislike John McCain? Don’t they realize how much they are helping his campaign? Its New Hampshire all over again except this time the public’s disdain for the Bush Administration and cable news and radio punditry paid off for McCain rather than Hillary Clinton. Republicans, just like Democrats, are sick of people telling them which candidate they should like and which candidates they will vote for, and are all united around one fact–the Bush Administration legacy is that nobody could wait to get someone else, anyone else, into the presidency.

Is it me or has the MSNBC political coverage become the best variety show since The Carol Burnett Show? Watching Pat Buchanan’s face twist up as if he was going to vomit every time he said McCain’s name–now that is comedy GOLD!

The big problem ahead is this. While Republicans are rejecting the candidate favored by their party apparatus, Democrats may not be and this could spell big trouble for the 2008 election. I’m starting to see Frank Rich’s point.

The Nevada Caucuses may have been overwhelmed by voters and flooded with big, fat, union and Clinton meanies, but at least there wasn’t anything like this in the press. From a commenter on Wonkette:

From the Miami Herald’s story on voting machine glitches:

“In several cases, however, the failure involved poorly trained election workers who apparently activated machines with the wrong ballots and, in some cases, were utterly confounded by the election.”

Utterly confounded by the election. Yeah, that sounds about right. Other things that utterly counfound (sic) Floridians include doorknobs, rotary-style telephones and spiral staircases.
