Fred Phelps Has Big Plans for Reno This Weekend

Saturday

Phelps’ followers plan to picket the funeral of Brianna Dennison because they claim to have been mistreated during their picket of Staff Sgt. Sean Gaul’s funeral on January 26th.  In their words:

You brought this Wrath on your own head, Reno, NV because you (1st) raised your chidren to be dashed to pieces as rebellious, arrogant soldiers of a Doomed nation of perverts and (2nd) when we warned you to not go to Hell like the dead soldiers and OBEY YOUR MAKER, you lawless brutes did not obey your own laws; instead, you allowed criminal, disorderly conduct to take place betwixt our humble, peaceful preachers and your arrogant, filthy-mouthed and violent counter-demonstraters.

Sunday:

Clergy staff  of Trinity Episcopal Church passed on the news that their church were notified, along with several other area churches, that Fred Phelps and his followers will be picketing local churches; specifically, Trinity, St. John’s Presbyterian, South Reno Baptist, and Our Lady of Snows. Phelps “kindly sent our office a fax this morning to let us know that they will be picketing Trinity from 8:45 to 9:15 this coming Sunday.”

Members of the Trinity Episcopal congregation plan to stand silently outside during their church during the picket and welcome support from the downtown community.

Remember, Phelps funds his operation by filing law suits against anyone who assaults him or his followers. His wife and several of his children are attorneys so remaining calm and non-violent is paramount.

Thanks for posting this, Myrna. It’s important for our community to stand against the kind of hate the Phelps family is peddling. Trinity welcomes non-violent support from all, and we’ll have hot coffee ready for everyone after the hate mongers leave.

What hate-filled people.
