The Prosectuion of Don Siegelman
Tonight on 60 Minutes Scott Pelley reported 52 former state attorneys-general have asked Congress to investigate whether the prosecution of .
Doug Jones, Siegelman’s lawyer, summed up the extremely problematic case this way:
“Well, you still have to investigate crimes, not people. It undermines the entire system of justice because at that point anybody can be a target. Any prosecutor can look across the table and say, ‘You know what? I just don’t like you.’”
I suspect that we have no idea of the true ramifications of the politicization of the Justice Department under the Bush Administration. Don Siegelman is only one of the most obvious cases. Watch the entire segment here:

“60 Minutes Done A Great Job”
The Bush’s elete group of corrupt GOP’ers are scared to death that Don Siegelman may be on the streets before the election. Especially with Slick Bob so nervous that he is combing his hair and spraying his mouth and under arms every Five minutes for two reasons: He’s hoping that the next president will be John McCain a republican and that he will asked to be his running mate. If a Democrat wins as the next president he/she will probally appoint new U.S. Attorneys in Alabama. Riley along with most of the top GOP operatives could get Federal charges filed against them for taking millions of dollars from Michael Scanlon and Jack Abramoff.
The country seems so close to out-and-out fascism now – I don’t think I’ve ever seen it closer. At this point, I think one more Republican president could tip it over the edge.
