The Eloquence of Peggy Noonan

The alternative title for Noonan’s latest Wallstreet Journal editorial: Successful black people don’t know what its like to black, or white, or poor. So they shouldn’t run for president, or even talk really. Privledged white men like JFK and Bush are much more eloquent on what it means to be American.

Is it just me or is it the worst kind of hypocrisy to criticize the Obama’s for being ivy league and snobby after her, until recently, loving support of Yale alum George W. Bush? This whole Noonan editorial is even more nauseating than usual because of the way she every so sublty suggests that Obama represents all the negative of the Republican ideolgy. She actual wonders if the Obama’s are nativists which I find almost unbelievable. Who is she trying to kid? That’s a basic right-wing talking point. And then there’s this:

Have they been, throughout their adulthood, so pampered and praised–so raised in the liberal cocoon–that they are essentially unaware of what and how normal Americans think? And are they, in this, like those cosseted yuppies, the Clintons?

I’d laugh if Noonan weren’t being so ignorant. None of this stopped her from supporting the silver-spooned Bush. Are we to understand that Noonan thinks that John McCain knows what normal Americans think, or even cares for that matter? Or that she has a bias against Ivy Leaguers? Her years of unbending support for Bush makes all of this laughable–I don’t care if she finally scorned her lover boy president.

And to top off her slimy sundae with a big cherry, Noonan even manages to throw in a reference to France. Good show.

Peggy Noonan makes the snake in the Garden of Eden look like a poor misunderstood reptile. She is the sweet smiling face of evil. She could have cajoled the Jews into the ovens of their own accord. She has no soul. To pay her any heed is to let evil triumph.
