McCain Jokes about Beating His Wife
Funny stuff (note sarcasm). I’m just posting a quote from Jon Ralston’s interview with Jon McCain:
“(On why he didn’t choose Gov. Jim Gibbons to chair his Nevada campaign?)
I appreciate his support. As you know, the lieutenant governor is our chairman.
(Why snub the governor?)
I didn’t mean to snub him,. I’ve known the lieutenant governor for 15 years and we’ve been good friends….I didn’t intend to snub him. There are other states where the governor is not the chairman.
(Maybe it’s the governor’s approval rating and you are running from him like you are from the president?)
(Chuckling) And I stopped beating my wife just a couple of weeks ago….”
ABC’s Jake Tapper tries to put the joke in context. But really, as a nation, we should be well past the point where a man running for president jokes about beating women. That fact that a man in McCain’s position makes such a sick joke, and turns somersaults to do so, demonstrates once again that he lacks the judgment to be president.

This is almost on a par with the Texas candidate who said that “Bad weather is like rape; you just have to relax and enjoy it.” How can any woman look at the way McCain treats his wife and still consider voting for him?
It’s generational issue. This is a guy who is still stuck very much in a time when comments like that were considered okay.
Hey, that could be his slogan! “McCain: For a better 1958″
