Perhaps Conservative Political Blogs Are Fading?

Dullard Mush recently mused about whether or not political blog readerships is fading.  What’s probably happening is that the rest of the world is catching up to the early adopters who favored politics and tech content.  That explains the gossip anyway.  One could easily argue that BoingBoing, Ars Technica, and all the Gawker Media blogs are liberal in ethos, if not all content.  I find it comical that the Joyner guy admits to not being aware of some of the top ten blogs on Technorati.  That fact alone would make me question anything he writes about blogging.  However, I would guess that there has been a decline in conservative political blog readership that mirrors this election season. On the whole, conservatives are less engaged than liberals. Now for the fun part–my top ten content items of the last week:

The top link is for the homepage of this site.  The last is a link to the about page of this site.  The other eight content items are either related to event or movie listing searches.  The rest are political in nature. I do get a lot of hits from posts about Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, but I really think that liberal blog readers are probably more engaged right now than conservative blog readers and that probably has a lot to do with what’s happening in the blogosphere.

You’re probably right about the left/right readership difference.

As for your list, couldn’t one argue that the Gibbons stories are more in the gossipy “who’s he diddling now” search category instead of, say, politicos yearning for more of his state budget proposals.

Sure, but as long as he’s governor, I’m calling politics. If they weren’t state politicians, it wouldn’t be a story.

I wonder what the readership numbers are on
Integral “Third Way” Politics?

Left/Right, both (too often) represent too much of a
limited and angry (even Missionary like) perspective.

Barack’s wise speech before the NAACP yesterday, again voicing what he’s been talking about for years,
confronts the notion of “either/or” in favor of “both/AND”.

Beware, though, of the water downed versions manifesting
in the form of political “triangulation”.

Attention conservative christians,
I am currently putting together a group of christians to assist me with
a national news story. A publishing organization affiliated with Salem
communications has recently published their official press release which
openly declares my biblical discovery to the public.
http://www.eternaltruth.net

This web sight can provide enough evidence for you to investigate the
validity of my claim. I recently published this discovery which opens up
a chain of clues dealing with King Nebuchadnezzar’s repentance
process as recorded in Daniel chapter four. This recorded event resulted
in God blessing Nebuchadnezzar and his ancient land located today in
Iraq. That particular blessing involved future promises of freedom in the
end times through great eagle’s wings. The eagle today is certainly
the symbol of the United states currently bringing this freedom to Iraq
as predicted in the Bible.

I am contacting people who represent different denominations who can
understand and explain type and shadow prophecies.. I am confident
that a common continuity of opinion by such persons can validate my
discovery to media sources as a worthy news story. This requires a non
denominational approach to succeed.

The interest factor for the media would be common agreement upon a
specific biblical interpretation coming from differing faiths who agree
upon a sound interpretation concerning one of the most important issues
for this coming election about Iraq. As you know religion has become a
central issue for presidential candidates opening up a rare opportunity
to promote the importance of God and moral issues.

Some of the top conservative sights in America currently have my video
presentation posted and available for public view. You may view my video on
the Rush Limbaugh’s official myspace page. You may view it on Laura
Ingrams page as well as numerous other conservative sights and blogs.

President Bush also has a sight on myspace. Each individual submission
into the sight must be examined and carefully qualified before being posted
publically on the sight. My video was approved yesterday and is posted
where it can now be seen on the President Bush sight.

The Iraq war will be of major political interest during the election. This is
rather timely and important. This may be a way for you and others to gain
national recognition by helping us unite christian denominations during a
critical election year. This is also a chance for people of faith to show our
troops a united support for their mission as one christian voice. If you are
interested please feel free to view our video and test my biblical claims.
Please call concerning any and all questions. Looking forward to hearing
from you soon.

Hi. I am a crass beginner, so the Lord knows if I will ever find my way back here again. I’m from Washoe Valley, so I feel a certain kinship, and I’m wanting to add my babble to the tower. What prompted me to respond was the musing about conservative blogs. I consider myself to be an American Christian Conservative contrarian. My priorities lie roughly in that order, at least about this-world items–social and political.

I guess I have to admit being a contrarian because in reading around, I have come to believe that in America, today’s Christians have abandoned Christianity, and our conservatives have forgotten just exactly what that means. It seems to me if Christians were to embrace Christianity and Conservatives would start conserving, there would be considerably less conflict in our great country.

Just to start the ball rolling, here are a couple of my less popular beliefs: Political: George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby and Robert Novak have conspired wi (with others) to commit treason. W. being the first President in history to commit treason in the White House during his tenure. I believe a prima facie case can be made against these gentlemen (!?) just by quoting the US penal code and their own public comments.

It is a measure of how much our politicians have separated from their constituency by noting how completely they (our elected officials) consider thamselves to be above the law. It is imperative that We the People stand up and demand that politicians who break the law should suffer the consequences. Until that happens their behavior will grow more and more outrageous, and they will continue protecting each other because they know they are more like each other than anyone who works for a living and remains subject to every law that these clowns can conjure up.

Although I believe in a lawful society, this crap about how America is a land of laws is pure bullshit. All countries are Lands of laws, that’s what makes them countries. What sets America apart is the Declaration of Independence, which states the opposite: American citizens have a duty to defy unreasonable laws. That’s why everybody gets so hopped up about a certain tea party in Boston harbor.

Until Bush is tried for Treason, I don’t see why anybody should go to prison for anything. Woe is that jaywalker devoid of ‘connections’ or ‘political clout’ or a wealthy daddy, for lo, he/she will be condemned to the dankest prison cell in Reno proper.

The Supreme Court has lost its collective head. To equate money with free speech is one of the most ridiculous assertions I have ever heard. Money is money, speech is speech. To say that money should have the protection of speech is to give disproportionate access to the all-American wallet. Being rich doesn’t preclude speaking up in public. But the ability to buy TV time or local politicians, or a friendly judge or two is limited to those who bear the coin sufficient to attain such luxuries. Money freely spent is NOT free speech.

Socially, I’m tired of listening to people talk about life beginning at conception. Anyone who is a Christian who says that has pretty much left Christian dogma behind. The Bible talks about God imbuing human babies with a soul as they pass through the veil of blood. Anyone who has witnessed a birth knows what ‘veil of blood’ means. It is the moment of birth. The moment of birth has been considered the beginning of life by Christians for almost 2,000 years. I for one believe that if God didn’t believe that, He would have spoken up sometime sooner — so that 2,000 years of His Children could live in His Grace.

I find it ironic that all these Christians believe the word of the same folks who gave us Evolution over the traditional word of God as found in King James. In my conservative southern church it was rumored that to try to change God over into our own image (and assign Him our beliefs as if we were smarter than Him) is a sin. Go figure.

In a related political note, I can’t think of anything more intrusive than allowing Big Brother to tell me and my family how will our biological garden grow. God forbid, if we have to face something as painful and life-shattering as abortion (in my family’s case, again) my pastor and my doctor may have some say in the matter, but my neighbor and my government will not!

So, here’s your conservative blog entry. I hope I have managed to piss everyone off, or I’m not upholding my duty as a contrarian.

Thanks — Will Twain, Washoe Valley.
