National Journal Bloggers’ Reactions to Michelle Obama
Updated Below
I think most of us can agree that Michelle Obama gave a fabulous speech tonight. She managed to hail Hillary Clinton and talk about all women in a way that was celebratory. However, what I’m most interested in are the reactions from the Right of Center bloggers included in the National Journal Bloggers Poll with me. We were polled yesterday on whether we felt Michelle Obama would hurt or help Barack Obama’s campaign. Well, first of all, its really kind of a ridiculous question, but it does show us clearly how low our public discourse on this election has gone.
The Right of Center bloggers overwhelmingly responded that Michelle Obama would hurt her husband’s campaign and included many thoughtful comments like “No one likes a hostile persona.” I’m sure that commenter spent a lot of time with Michelle Obama before deducing that opinion. And then there were these comments: “Perhaps they have her mouth under control now” and “Michelle Obama is like the 2 year old kid that tells his/her parents friends’ what the said about the friends behind closed doors. She can’t be controlled….She’s the Hillary–of Bill Clinton years–on steriods. And the Al Sharpton in a skirt that Obama is trying to hide in the basement until he gets elected.”
It’s clear that the blogger who compares Michelle Obama to a 2 year old never matured past 5th grade. What are they even talking about in that comment? Comparing Michelle Obama to Al Sharpton? Think with your brain people–not with your knees (as in jerking). Respect the poll.
I’ll be checking for their responses tonight and posting them here. I hope they don’t
And why is Pat Buchanan still on TV? He asked where the religion was in Obama’s speech? Well Pat, any actual religious person understands the religiosity of the word “grace” which Obama used several times during the speech. Please take Pat Buchanan off TV!
P.S. Chuck Todd is nonsensical lately–he talks about the Clintons more than Chris Matthews now!

All I can say ….THEY ARE SCARED!
I agree that it is well past time to remove Pat Buchanan from TV. He has nothing constructive or worthwhile to say. And when he goes he should take the pussy-whipped James Carville and the juicy-mouthed, two-faced Chris Matthews with him.
When you only pick from the more extreme sides of the political spectrum that’s what you are almost always going to get. I think about the only question you would get agreement on in that blogger panel is “What color is the sky?” Although, thinking about it, there might be a handful of liberal bloggers who would say “Brown, thanks to the GOP-loving corporate polluters.”
So - Chris Matthews was blithering about Hillary Clinton and what she owes to her supporters, etc….I recall that he really ganged up on her during the campaign. Maybe it’s time for C-SPAN - no commentary - just give us the “stuff”. Those guys are quite full of themselves - that’s where public discourse has gone… Put Bill Maher on if it’s religiosity he’s seeking.
Only ever get presidential campaign news from c-span FIRST
If you want to take into account pundits opinions, go ahead and watch cable news afterward, but consume plenty of c-span. It’s the only way you’ll really know what’s going on.
Anon, I would say to read that tou should read the comments everyday and see who seems way off base and who doesnt. Sorry, but I do think when any group include Pam of Atlas Shrugs, well, I mean, that’s slightly scary really and I think the evidence is all right there in comments.
Not even a week after the president election the blond topblogger from Sweden, Linda Ekholm speaks out loud about Obama!
And I really believe this is truly written by heart. Scary!
