Health Care Reform: Calling All State Bloggers

I expect all of you to sign up. We might not be able to flip Dean Heller on health care reform–he rarely ventures outside the bounds of his GOP talking points–but we can make things uncomfortable for him and the rest of conservatives (GOP AND Democrats).

It’s time for an accounting. Do our legislators work for us or for insurance corporations?

“While 76% of Americans support the public option, sitting Democratic Senators have received $80 million from the health and insurance interests that oppose it.” HealthCareCantWait.com

Visit the Bill Moyers Journal for a great collection of interviews and references about the health care crisis and health care reform, the lobbyists, etc. Jonathan Alter’s recent editorial in Newsweek is worth a read too.

From FireDogLake:

The fate of the health care bill, as Mike Lux said this morning, is going to be fought during recess, and that happens in the states. Teabagger outfits like Newt’s American Solutions and Americans for Propsperity are raking in the cash, and there will be millions of dollars worth of fear-mongering ads dumped into districts during the month. We’d like to work with state blogs to help them amplify their message, drive traffic to them, facilitate organizing efforts and try to bring the numbers of the grassroots to bear against the checkbooks of the lobbyists.

The effort by House progressives to stand together and push back against the Blue Dogs was successful. But it ain’t over by a long shot. If you’re with a blog that covers state politics and you’d like to be a a part of the effort, let us know in the form below.

Senator Ben Nelson,
If the senator doesn’t want to represent the people of
our country, then he should find another place in this
world to live.
