Time for Titus and Berkley To Take The Public Option Pledge
Titus and Berkley are not members of the Progressive Caucus but I don’t care. It’s time to choose sides. Progressives helped get them elected. We raised money for them, blogged for them, attended their events, and voted for them.
77% of Americans indicated support for a public option in today’s Survey USA poll. The results confirm an earlier NBC/Wall Street Journal poll in June.
In other words, support for a public option remains very strong.
Ultimately Titus and Berkley are political animals and want to end up on the RIGHT side of this issue, but they are running out of time to work out their concerns and declare themselves.
Guess what congresswomen, progressives are coming for you and voting for a plan without a public option (no co-ops!) will not do. It is my humble suggestion that Titus and Berkley join 60 of your colleagues who have taken the pledge to not sign a health care reform bill that does not include a public option–SOON.
Until they do, feel free to call their offices and let them know that you expect health care reform with a public option. Period.
