So Long Reno

Not much blogging has been going on here for a lot of reasons; one of which explains why I’m leaving Reno soon. Some of you may have noticed my growing interest in government transparency, egovernment, online organizing, and online civic participation as I participated in projects like TwitterVoteReport (returning soon for the 2o1o midterm elections) and TweetProgress and events like the Sunlight Foundation’s TransparencyCamp and the Nevada Interactive Media Summit.

I have been personally inspired by the potential technology presents in terms of creating an empowered citizenry and feel incredibly lucky to have found a job which will enable me to work on civic engagement full time. I am moving to Alexandria, Virginia to become the price of proscar Community Manager for ACTion Alexandria (no website…yet!), a technology-enabled initiative for citizen engagement. ACTion Alexandria is an initiative of purchase viagra online Act for Alexandria and is one of 24 innovative initiatives awarded a Community Information Challenge grant from the Knight Foundation.

I will begin work in Alexandria on July 15th. Any while I’m excited to begin working for ACTion Alexandria, I am definitely leaving Reno with some regret. Reno has been my home for 10 years and is a community I’ve obviously become very engaged with myself. In fact, much of what I’ve learned about civic engagement began right here on this blog. Whether we agreed or not, you helped give me a push toward the road I’m now on. So, really, I have you to thank for this incredible new opportunity.

So what happens to this blog? I’m not sure. I’ve written 2,440 blog posts, many of which are about life in Reno. I guess I’ll just leave it up for posterity, and who knows, maybe I’ll post updates once in a while. It’s hard to tell at this point.

So, I guess this is goodbye…..for now ;-)

I leave you with these parting words from The Specials.

Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think
Enjoy yourself, while you’re still in the pink
The years go by, as quickly as you wink
Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself,
It’s later than you think

We’ll sure miss you, Tracy! I’m getting nostalgic thinking about the first days of this blog and how it’s morphed over time. You made your mark on Reno and lexapro 10 mg opened up dialogue that would have otherwise been drowned out by bar noise.

This is where I first got my feet wet blogging as a guest blogger. Thank you for that. And, thanks for throwing that “stock the bar” party where I met my sweet husband. ;)

You are an amazing friend and I’m so glad to have known you for almost all your time in Nevada. Here’s to your new adventure and paving the levitra professional way for others!

Well, bummer for Northern Nevada but congratulations to you. Ellen and I keep talking about a DC trip – if that happens I’ll give you a holler. Be well and see you on FB. Oh – and thanks for The Specials video. ;-)

Congratulations! Reno’s loss is D.C.’s gain. Welcome to the Eastern Time Zone — we’re happy to have you!

Wow, congratulations on your new gig! That sounds really fabulous!

From one Nevada-now-DC-area-gal to another: congrats and can’t wait to see you on a more regular basis! Let me know how I can help once you get settled (or even to get settled).

Big hug!!!

Alexandria’s gain…Reno’s loss.

We’re going to miss your witty, insightful, intelligent commentary and input Tracy/Myrna.

I hope we’ll continue to stay in touch via social media.

Thanks for all you’ve done for our community!

Larry

Wow. Congrats, yes, I’ll miss you too. I hope in leaving Reno, you will know that you have left it a little better place with your pointy dialogue, willingness to help people and organizations, your witty commentary, and joyful laugh.
Come back and visit on occasion.

I am so proud of you, Myrna! I mean, Tracy! XO!

Alexandria, VA.. heartbreakingly BEAUTIFUL area!

…and you may be the third or fourth liberal to go there. Ave! Ave! Te Salutabus! Got your work cut out for you. :)

Stumble us anything interesting or just drop a note @ graphictruth.com or via politcususa.com. It’s gonna be a long, hot summer of discontent.

Oh goddess! You are going to be there just in time for August!

Ok. here’s a tip. Stay hydrated. Even though the humidity is near a hundred percent, you should still drink LOTS of iced tea. A little southern comfort improves the flavor, but you can make do with lemon. :)

Any time the temperature gets above 90 degress, underwear is optional. Frighteningly, this is quite irrespective of age or gender.

That is not because people are “frisky.” It’s because the only reason for underwear at that point it is to hold icepack, and most people have just given up at that point. Actual exercise? Suicidal. Being from Reno, you think you know hot. No, Reno can get hot. Even uncomfortably so. This is a whole different quality of hot.

Siesta. Learn to love it. :) Try to find a basement apartment if you can.
