Stop sending us blogger-specific junkmail.
IN THE BEGINNING we started up MMP for some a few friends who kept asking us about politics. Only they had the URL — we never e-mailed out an announcement to other bloggers of the press or anybody. We linked to a few other Nevada blogs just to keep them abreast [...]
Wal-Mart compensates for Democratic victories
by re-launching some cultural crusade we don’t even pretend to understand.
Lame excuses we Dems use when we lose, 1: Voters are dumb
What do an ineffective state Senator, a former Capitol Hill Intern, a ridiculous caricature of cowboy marketing-campaign and a man who… sorta just moved here… and wanted to be a Senator… his daughter had a blog or something… have in common? If you guessed “they all lost,” then hey, you win! Amongst a [...]
Endorsement #8: It’s time for Tessa
We saved this one for second-to-last, because not only is it by far one of the most competitive of the races we’re covering, but it’s also our home district. Nevada’s third district wraps around the vegas suburbs — if you drive by a lot of signs that advertise new homes “In the low [...]
Endorsement #7.2: CD2 - Why we’re not endorsing Jill Derby
We spent a lot of time on this one. At first, it was easy. Then it got a little harder. Then it was easy again. Then we just gave up. Both sides could’ve done better. We’re disappointed in the campaign – one that pitted two quality candidates up against [...]
Endorsement #7.1: CD2 — Why we’re not endorsing Heller
Prince Dean of Carson. Dean Heller is the golden boy who, if this were 2002, 2004 – or 2008, would win the second congressional district without remark. He hand his “team” (Slanker, Inc.) have managed to turn this one into a horserace. Through a series of awful missteps, Heller gave away a [...]
Endorsement #6: Does Catherine have an opponent?
So we realized, while putting together our notes for the federal office and the governor’s race, that we forgot to endorse in the race for Attorney General. MMP quickly and unceremoniously endorses Catherine Cortez Masto for Attorney General. It’s an important office for which she is eminently qualified. Plus her dad was [...]
Endorsement #5: Controller’s Office inspires new MMP slogan
We’ve remarked previously on how interesting the Controller’s office is. Do you know what the Controller does? Well, they account for state’s payroll deductions. So, if you’re on the state payroll, you probably want somebody who is good at math. Except that job, really, is probably done on a computer.
They also [...]
Endorsements #2, 3, 4 — Treasurer, Secretary of State, Lieutenant Governor
With Early voting starting tomorrow, we realize we should’ve started rolling out the ol’ endorsements maybe a little sooner. That said, we’re going to make three quick and dirty endorsements. These are all pretty straightforward, and will keep you strung along before we go in for the kill on the Governor’s and congressional [...]
Endorsement #1: Would a liberal blogger really pick Ensign over Carter?
Yep. But it’s got nothing to to with politics.
Jack Carter meets the basic qualifications of running for the Senate. He’s over thirty. He’s been a citizen of the United States for nine years. He is a citizen of the State of Nevada — for two whole years, lucky us. [...]
Just an hour or so to go.
For those of you who haven’t yet, you’ve got an hour to get your thoughts about MMP’s upcoming 2006 endorsements to us via e-mail. We’ve gotten a handful of responses — some surprising, some not. Here are some notes:
You sure love Dina Titus. Love her, love her, love her. We’re [...]
MMP 2006 Endorsement Announcement
Without previously warning Myrna the Minx — though we couldn’t ask for a better editor — MMP is going to do some endorsements this year in the general election. It’s about time for early voting to start. Thing is, we haven’t made up our minds in every race just yet. [...]
Nevada GOP Chair Paul Adams should resign.
If there’s one thing we at MMP appreciate, it’s a good, spirited political debate. We like good candidates seeking higher office . We don’t much care of they’re democrat or republican. (”But,” you’re going to interrupt me and say, “MMP, the only good candidates for office are Democrats” — shut up). [...]
Something nice or nothing at all…
Just a day after our previous rant about Senator Titus’ horrible, cartonish ads, she hired announced that there’s an ew firm to make the new ads.
The good news is that they’ve replaced the goofy condescending narrator. They’ve gotten rid of the ridiculous animation. And the production values. We especially like the [...]
We try and get out… they just pull us back in.
And what’s got us back into the blogging game? Well, today it’s Senator Titus’ awful, awful new ads. A few other bloggers — Myrna, Gleaner – have mentioned that maybe the ads aren’t tip-top, but nobody’s gone into why. And we’d really hate to think there’s some Titus supporter out there, wearing [...]
